It’s been a while (read : more than one year) since I wrote on my blog. Many things happened in real life and honestly I haven’t taken my blog seriously. Just recently, I noticed how expensive the hosting bill was so now I will take my blog seriously, but there’s one problem, The White Screen of Death.
This is a problem where WordPress for unknown reason doesn’t let you to add new pages. When you click on “new page” or “new post”, it is blank. I panicked a bit and thought to myself “It’s J̶o̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ Over”, so I looked up the solution. The first solution I tried was the one posted by WLD Technologies here. The video told me to go to the CPanel, then phpMyAdmin and toggle the Auto Incremented option on the structure menu.
It didn’t work. That’s not my issue. Auto Incremented is on.
So I looked up another video. By the time I looked up the first video, I had no idea what is the “real” name of the error was. Apparently in the another video, it is called “White Screen of Death”. This video by Helping Clips told me to install a plugin called “Classic Editor”.
I thought to myself like this, “What if the issue is not on the whole WordPress itself, but only the ‘new page’ button, which as far as I know is provided by the block editor plugin?” In other words. The classic editor hasn’t been installed yet, but I’m using a plugin called Elementor already. So I tried to make the post using Elementor “new page” button, and it worked.
While I have no idea what is actually happening, I can conclude that the problem is indeed the Block Editor rather than the whole WordPress. Then I looked up classic editor and find it pretty neat. It’s simple. No hate to Elementor or Block Editor, but I really love how simple Classic Editor looks. You simply write, or better yet, type. I’m still using Elementor to create pages though.
From now on I will use this Classic Editor to create my posts.
